Telegesis has combined the STRX2 Module with past development work on our Active Tag CF format BaseStation to provide a portable handheld unit able to communicate with other STRX modules in the field.

HP iPAQ with CF Card

CF Card with PCMCIA adaptor in Laptop

Telegesis has developed a node which can be used in a PDA with a CF slot or in a Laptop computer with a PCMCIA/CF adaptor. The CF Card is in essence a fully featured and functioning STRX2 module and therefore all the usual Telegesis AT-style commands are available via a virtual com port.

  • STRX2CF acts as a CF/PCMCIA to serial bridge connected to an STRX2 module
  • Driver support for Pocket PC and Windows
  • Telegesis Terminal support for Windows
  • Allows access to the STRX2 AT-Command line interface via a virtual com port
  • Form factor: Extended Compact Flash type II
  • Antenna is housed in the extension of the card - external to the PC/PDA
  • Supports low power modes

Software for Windows based Laptops
When installed with appropriate adaptor in the PCMCIA slot of a laptop, the standard Telegesis Terminal software will perform in exactly the same way as with the ETRX2DV Development Board once the following driver has been installed.

STRX2CF - driver for windows

Download STRX2CF driver

Software options for STRX2CF used in a PDA and other CE platforms
Drivers only - if you are developing your own software application and only require drivers.
Telegesis Terminal PPC for PDA - download the newly enhanced Telegesis Terminal PPC demonstration software. There are two methods of installation. one using ActiveSync on a PC and the other is to load a CAB file into the PDA and then install from there. Software and drivers are the same so choice depends on your preferred method of installation.

EAP-S - Click here for more information

Telegesis ZigBee Technology

EAP-S   Ethernet Access Point
New EAP-S     Initial quantity now sold. Available end June.

Download - Telegesis EAP-S product brief

The EAP-S is also available in a Power Amplified form – see STRX2-PA for range & specification details

The Ethernet Access Point is a “gateway” which allows access to STRX2 mesh networking modules over an industry standard Ethernet IP Network. In addition, once the IP address of the EAP has been established and Firewalls permitting, the EAP can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

For example, multiple EAPs can be deployed, each connected via Ethernet to a ZigBee PAN in different parts of the building.

For faster production development the device carries the Telegesis AT Style Command line interface which allows the quick integration of meshing radio technology without complex programming or RF design experience.

EAP Features

  • Combines a Telegesis STRX2 module with a Incorporates a Lantronix serial to Ethernet bridge
  • Complete TCP/IP protocol stack and Windows deployment software
  • Interface: Ethernet 10Base-T or 100Base-TX (Auto-Sensing)
  • Protocols: TCP/IP, UDP/IP, ARP, ICMP, TFTP, Telnet, Auto IP, DHCP
  • Link and activity indicator (LED)
  • Management: Telnet and Microsoft Windows®-based utility for configuration
  • Can offer access to the remote AT-Command Inteface via a serial Com port.
  • SIF interface for Custom application development and real time debugging of custom firmware.
  • External power supply required

Uses

  • Remote diagnostics and upgrades.
  • Networked remote monitoring and control.
  • Remote data acquisition - e.g. temperature monitoring.
  • Bridging between ZigBee and Ethernet.

Windows software
As a helpful starting point for developers, Telegesis supplies the simple Telegesis Terminal Application with the EAP. Device deployment and network initiation are simplified with Dynamic Host Protocol Support (DHCP) and additional IP configuration methods via the included Windows®-based Lantronix DeviceInstaller software.

The supported Com Port Redirector (CPR) software maps ‘virtual COM’ ports on a PC platform and redirects application data destined to an attached device. Rather than going out of the local COM port, the data is transmitted across the Ethernet network to/from the Lantronics XPort Direct using TCP/IP. CPR is also licensed as an API to OEMs for incorporation into their applications on non-PC platforms such as a web pad or PDA.

Power Supply

When ordering please note that an external power supply is available at additional cost.

OEM format

The EAP is also available as an OEM product;

  • Without the Telegesis AT command set - use ST's Development Kit to develop your own firmware application.
  • With or without plastic cases.

Router-S - Click here for more information

Telegesis ZigBee Technology - Router-S
New Router will be available later in June

Download - Telegesis Router product brief

Acts as a “router” which enables increased distance between nodes in a ZigBee network.
For example, if the distance between two nodes is too great for communication to be established, place one or more Routers in-between and the mesh will self-form. A Router has the same distance parameters as a Telegesis module.

Router can be placed where needed in a mesh

Router Features

  • Incorporates a Telegesis ZigBee module
  • External power supply required

Uses

  • Extend distance between nodes in a ZigBee network
